EDI, or Electronic Data Interchange, is the sending of data electronically from one place to another. In the claims environment, and especially workers' compensation claims, EDI allows organizations to electronically report claims. Electronic submissions reduce the time associated with "snail mail" and exceed the quality of fax transmissions.
The IAIABC acts as a standards board for EDI. They develop the file formats for EDI transmissions. Insurance companies, Third Party Administrators (TPAs), self-insured organizations, and software vendors who adhere to the IAIABC standard are able to "talk" to each other and minimize the work involved with handling claim data.
In ClaimZone, EDI needs only an initial setup before you and your adjusters can send and receive EDI transmissions without further administrative intervention. It's simple, it's fast, and it's the here-and-now of claims management.
